Have you seen this guy?
His name is Wally (or Waldo if you’re not in the UK) and he knows how to have a good time. By hiding, obviously.
Like Wally, we like to have a good time too, and we like to help others do the same. The Hide and Seek Society of Great Britain (and Northern Ireland!) has three key elements to its mission.
-
Enable adults to have fun playing childish games and make new friends
-
Share the Hide and Seek love by supporting affiliated societies across the UK
-
Fundraise for children’s charities, especially those who can’t play Hide and Seek
We think that it’s really important to look after one another and have fun. That’s pretty much it.
There is no more satisfying feeling in the world than watching literally hundreds of students walk right past searching for you while you’re hiding in plain sight.
As a kid, when I played Grandma’s Footsteps it never even occurred to me to run around the building, and approach ‘grandma’ from the completely opposite side. This is why playing kids games as an adult is way more fun.
If you’re playing Hide and Seek over a whole city, pro tip: hide in Ann Summers. The seekers will be too embarrassed to look for you in there!
Annual Year of Giving
That’s right, every year we have a Year of Giving. That’s not a typo. Why only have a month of giving, when you could do it for 365 (or even sometimes 366) days? Our members vote on which charity the Society will support each year and all our charitable efforts for the year go towards supporting that charity. Every charity supports children, who presumably came up with the idea for Hide and Seek, along with many of the other incredible games we enjoy playing, so we see it as our opportunity to give something back. You don’t have to be a member to join – all funds go directly to the currently supported charity, we never see a penny of it.
